A celebration dedicated to bread, community and local traditions, marking the Bread Museum’s anniversary and the opening of its new community oven. The programme features participatory activities, music, exhibitions, themed talks and traditional games, celebrating bread as a universal heritage and a symbol of sharing.
Built using locally sourced materials, the new community oven revives one of the most significant expressions of collective village life in Portugal, particularly in the Serra da Estrela region, where the act of baking bread brought generations together and strengthened community bonds. Through this initiative, the Museum seeks to revive that spirit of togetherness while celebrating the knowledge, traditions and practices that form an integral part of Portugal’s cultural heritage.
