Casa Pereira da Conceição

There’s a spring in every life: it must be sung like this, in full bloom.
Florbela Espanca (1894-1930)
At Casa Pereira da Conceição, unexpected flavours are served, like Strawberry and Champagne tea, and the aroma of freshly ground coffee is perfected with blends tailored to each visitor. But that’s not all. Ovos Moles from the oldest Ovos Moles house in Aveiro, Confeitaria Peixinho, chocolate umbrellas, and unusual bonbons are also found here. This is where collections full of history and Portuguese spirit live: Tea at Five – Queens of Portugal, Literary Café Club, and Luz de Lisboa Chocolate. Nothing here is left to chance.
In the midst of the city’s bustle, there is a corner where time has stood still. Founded in 1933 on Rua Augusta, Casa Pereira da Conceição remains one of Lisbon’s most emblematic tea and coffee houses, having received in 2017 the distinction of Loja com História (Shop with History) from the Lisbon City Council.
The interior, with palace-style furniture in pastel tones, evokes the Parisian salons of the Louis XVI era. More than a setting, it is a tribute to the refinement of bygone days – and the pleasure of savouring slowly. Casa Pereira da Conceição remains exactly that: a reflection of Lisbon’s knack for welcoming, serving, and surprising. A shop that carries the rare flavour of things unhurried.
Inside, the aroma of freshly ground coffee mingles with that of rare infusions and artisanal chocolates. Each product has a story, and every customer is greeted by name – as if part of the furniture. There is no rush, no forced modernity. Instead, there is a nearly solemn respect for rituals, history, and the art of good service. At Casa Pereira da Conceição, luxury is simplicity mastered. And that, today, is worth its weight in gold.
