Brasileira do Chiado presents a new menu with autumnal inspiration

The arrival of autumn welcomes comfort cuisine with country flavors and a touch of the sea

The sun is gone, but it left a warm and nostalgic tone at the table at A Brasileira. Chef Nuno Carreira has renewed the menu, keeping the classics such as Steak with coffee sauce – the dish that has persisted for years in honor of the poet who loved it so much and who continues to occupy the terrace – or the very Portuguese roasted cod.

With homemade recipes, those that have the feel of a Sunday family lunch and under the sign of traditional food, the Chef was in search of indulgence and comfort cuisine, rescuing the pleasure of enjoying a good country dish in the heart of the city. Whether on the terrace or in the historic interior of A Brasileira, the black pork cheeks in red wine, polenta and island cheese fight with the confit duck leg served with Risotto and asparagus. Which of the two to choose? Hard decision!

But the affective gastronomic memories that now appear on the menu don’t end there. From the Portuguese sea that Fernando Pessoa immortalized in Mensagem, it is worth trying the Polvo Vicentino, a recipe for Octopus à Lagareiro style with sweet potatoes and a special twist from the Chef, or the monkfish rice with prawns and clams, because the soul is not small, as the poet said, and there is always room for a classic of national cuisine that tastes even better in the urban and bustling environment of Chiado.

A ray of sun enters A Brasileira in the warm tones of a Pumpkin Risotto with Serra cheese, indifferent to the colder and shorter days. A feast for the taste buds! It’s more than just a comfort to the stomach; It is comforting for the soul.

To end up the meal, freshly burnt cream milk, rice pudding with cinnamon lines and Tiramisú , which has long ceased to be an Italian dessert and has become a global delicacy. To accompany the bica (coffee)? A French toast with Serra da Estrela cheese cream in a contrast as unexpected as it is perfect, because it certainly already smells like Christmas…
