An exhibition of drawings and paintings by Filipe Amaral, an artist whose work is characterised by an ongoing dialogue between memory, identity and Portuguese traditions. Inspired by the heritage of Arraiolos Embroidery, one of Portugal’s most iconic expressions of traditional craftsmanship, the exhibition reinterprets the motifs, colours and compositions of this centuries-old art form through a contemporary visual language.
Combining drawing and painting, Filipe Amaral’s work reflects on the continuity of traditional practices, the transmission of craftsmanship across generations, and the power of artistic creation to give new meaning to a living cultural heritage.
