Moulding the Legacy brings together 15 traditional Estremoz clay figures created by Sara Sapateiro, in an exhibition that invites visitors to discover the work of this young clay artisan and explore the future of a centuries-old tradition.
Born in Estremoz, Sara began her journey in 2018 under the guidance of master artisan Isabel Pires, from whom she learned the techniques and processes of this traditional craft. Since then, she has developed her own distinctive artistic style, carrying forward skills and knowledge passed down through generations.
Inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017, the Craftsmanship of Estremoz Clay Figures finds in Sara’s work an example of how tradition remains alive: preserving what defines it while allowing each new generation to leave its own mark.
Free admission.
