As part of the 3rd Arts & Crafts – New Design Biennial 2026, Grupo O Valor do Tempo presents the talk “It’s Expensive, But…”, a conversation that begins with an apparently simple question: how much is a handmade piece really worth?
Looking beyond price to consider time, materials and craftsmanship, the conversation invites us to reflect on the true value of Arts & Crafts and on what we do not always see when we look only at the price of a piece.
How can we ensure fair pay for those who master skills that take years to learn? How can we preserve a tradition without keeping it stuck in the past? And, in a world where technology and Artificial Intelligence are making production increasingly fast, could what is made by human hands become even more valuable?
Curated by Grupo O Valor do Tempo, the conversation will be led by Sónia Santiago, Marketing and Cultural Communications Director at Grupo O Valor do Tempo, with the participation of Ana Cândida, a Camisola Poveira artisan, and Eunice Neves, Director of CINDOR.
