As part of the International Conference Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), Fundação Oriente in Lisbon is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Portuguese Filigree, protected since 2018 under Geographical Indication No. 539. This connection to INPI is particularly symbolic, as industrial property helps protect the identity and origin of this craftsmanship and distinguish authentic artisanal production.
The exhibition is organised by Alma do Fio – Associação da Arte Filigraneira de Portugal, with Joalharia do Carmo collaborating in the presentation and selection of the pieces. The initiative aims to showcase the richness and diversity of Portuguese Filigree, one of the most distinctive expressions of traditional Portuguese goldsmithing, while celebrating the craftsmanship of its artisans and the identity of an art form deeply rooted in the country’s culture and traditions.
The exhibition brings together a selection of pieces by different artisans whose production is certified, revealing diverse interpretations of a shared tradition. An opportunity to discover an art form passed down through generations, which continues to evolve without losing its distinctive identity.
