A themed exhibition dedicated to representations of Christmas through the Bracelos Figurines, a certified Portuguese craft tradition, featuring original nativity scenes created by master artisans. Recently inscribed on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Barcelos Figurines reinforce the recognition of this unique expression of Portuguese folk art. Each artisan has been invited to present an original work, resulting in a collective exhibition that highlights the creative, aesthetic and symbolic diversity of this distinctive artistic expression.
More than a celebration of Christmas, the exhibition seeks to honour the work of these artisans and promote the transmission of an ancestral craft recognised as one of the most distinctive expressions of Portuguese folk art.
