As part of Cultura no Chiado, an initiative organised by the Centro Nacional de Cultura, Joalharia do Carmo opens its doors for an experience dedicated to discovering Portuguese filigree.
In the workshop “From Workshop to Jewellery”, participants will have the opportunity to explore this art form up close, guided by the masters who bring it to life: artisans, goldsmiths and enchedeiras (craftswomen who fill filigree designs with delicate metal threads). During each session, participants will discover how filigree jewellery is created, learn about the specialised techniques used by master filigree makers, and hear first-hand the memories and stories of those who keep this craftsmanship alive.
An opportunity to step into the world of Portuguese filigree and discover the gestures, techniques and people behind this tradition.
