Roast lamb with oven-baked rice is much more than a culinary speciality. It is a tradition deeply rooted in the identity of Baião and Marco de Canaveses, in family celebrations and in knowledge passed down through generations.
The event begins at 4:00 pm with a confraternity parade along Rua das Flores, followed at 4:30 pm by the presentation of the scientific study “Roast Lamb with Oven-Baked Rice: Affection, History and Tradition”.
The publication is the result of three years of research carried out by the Instituto de Imersão Cultural – Stay to Talk, in partnership with the Confraria do Anho Assado com Arroz de Forno. The research sought to trace the history of this tradition, document the evolution of its preparation techniques and gather testimonies from those who have helped preserve it.
Through memories, stories and knowledge shared around the table, this event invites visitors to discover the cultural significance of a culinary tradition that remains an integral part of the life and identity of local communities.
